Manchester United bounces back with help of Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has been struggling lately along with the Manchester United squad. However, the team recovered from being thoroughly dismantled by Manchester City in their previous Premier League game by defeating Everton 2-1 on Sunday at Goodison Park. Within the opening 15 minutes, Alex Iwobi of Everton and Antony of United traded goals until Anthony Martial’s injury altered the game’s outcome.

Nonetheless, Ronaldo didn’t fall short of scoring a goal. In fact, he hit his 700th goal for the club. For the first time since he was a teenager playing for Sporting Lisbon, Cristiano Ronaldo made his fifth consecutive league substitute appearance at Goodison Park.
However, he demonstrated his deadly talent in front of the goal when he sprinted onto Casemiro’s ball and shot low past Jordan Pickford at the age of 37.

It was Ronaldo’s 700th club goal, and it served as the most recent proof that he still has room to score a few more. It was only Ronaldo’s second goal of the year as he fought for a spot in Erik ten Hag’s lineup. Still, it was an important one that gave Manchester United a win they desperately needed after losing to Manchester City in the derby and having a difficult journey to Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League.

It was critical that United recovered from the outcome at the Etihad Stadium and maintained the tempo in the battle for the top four because a gap was beginning to form between the top three teams—Man City, Arsenal, and Tottenham—and everyone else.

What about Martial’s injuries? Anthony Martial’s first season start came as no surprise after he scored three goals last week off the bench against Manchester City and Omonia Nicosia. However, things didn’t turn out the way he had hoped.

Martial’s inch-perfect pass to Antony set up United’s first goal, but his night was already finished after only 30 minutes when he went off with yet another injury.

Martial has had a difficult season. He looked good in the preseason but suffered a hamstring issue before the season began, and then, after coming on as a substitute against Liverpool in August, he suffered an Achilles injury. He missed the following five games as a result, and he can only pray that the most recent setback isn’t significant.

Ronaldo will also be impacted by Martial’s injury issues, and not just because he replaced the French player against Everton. Ten Hag can’t count on Martial to be available, and the United manager is already apprehensive about allowing Ronaldo to depart in January for fear that it would leave him without enough choices up front for the remainder of the season. Marcus Rashford is the only other known striker in the group, and he has already suffered an injury this year. Casino

Man United had a challenging week thanks to Manchester City and Omonia Nicosia when they came to Goodison Park, but Everton squandered a huge chance to increase the pressure.

Amadou Onana and Antony’s mistreatment of Casemiro and Amadou Onana’s theft of the ball allowed Everton to score the opening goal, but they were subsequently guilty of squandering their advantage. Goodison was bouncing after Alex Iwobi’s goal because United doesn’t typically handle setbacks well, but two midfield errors allowed United to score twice before halftime, dispelling whatever tension Ten Hag’s players might have been experiencing.

Just 10 minutes after Iwobi’s goal, Antony equalized for United, becoming the first player in their first three Premier League games to score. However, if Everton had maintained their composure for a little longer, United would have had a very uncomfortable evening at a venue where they have had some recent struggles.

Frank Lampard will be disappointed that his players didn’t make United fight harder for the points because they have quietly improved since losing the first two games of the season. Everton has improved since their close call with the drop last season, but Lampard might feel his team blew the opportunity to make a statement against United.
